Stephan Knoll
Even as a 10 year old Stephan Knoll's entrepreneurial skills were evident as he sat at a little table amidst the hustle and bustle of the Central Market singing the praises of his family's meat and smallgoods products.
...
At just 25, Stephan has managed the business during a period of 20% national growth per annum, decreased staff turnover and improved factory efficiency.
His managerial skills - coupled with the leadership he has shown through roles with the Premier's Food Council and as Chair of Flavour SA - have been recognised at The Tenth Annual South Australian Premier's Food Awards.
"Stephan has demonstrated substantial personal growth and determination, which in turn has strongly influenced the broader success within Barossa Fine Foods," the judges noted in awarding Stephan as the new KPMG Young Leader.
By preparing clear operational plans, staff training manuals and other procedural manuals for all staff to follow, Stephan had led the business through a very strong growth phase.
...
Stephan said the South Australian food industry could look forward to a solid future.
"In terms of opportunity, a stable food industry is essential and South Australia's food industry is certainly consistent.
While mining might come and go, food will always be there.
It's a solid industry and one of South Australia's most significant employers."
One thing is certain: Stephan will be in the thick of the growth.
