The idea to reconsider the location arose after rain forced last year's ceremony to be held inside a non-air-conditioned gym, school Harrington Principal Nancy Knight said.

Eleven people were treated for exhaustion during last year's commencement, Knight said.

"I'm trying to look out for the health and safety of everyone," she said.

Knight said she worked on the plan with a team at Harrington made up of faculty, staff and parents.She informally presented the proposed change to the board in January and sent a letter home to parents last month.
