Alvin Kline, theatre critic for the New York Times, after reviewing one of her "Mame" performances wrote:

In 1998, his performance as Herod in the New York regional revival of "Jesus Chris Superstar" had the New York Times' Alvin Kline calling Nathan's "slick, jiving, altogether terrific King Herod" a portrayal that "…should be a definitive rendering of a role all too often reduced to silly camp.
