His father , Al Kline Sr. , is a piano tuner, musician who made records as a singer in a large band in Europe.His father traveled all over Europe playing hotels and dance music before the war.He was featured many weeks on Dutch radio before the war.

Al Kline was born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands in 1961.He now lives in Corpus Christi, Texas with his wife and four children.This is your official link to his music site.
Al Kline is now a Podiatric Surgeon in practice for over 15 years.His love of the piano began when he was a little boy.He would sit at the piano with his father.Not knowing how to read or really play piano, young Albert mimiced his father playing piano in impressionistic terms. Al Kline (III) began playing the piano seriously in 1977 at 15 years of age.He began by playing classical music by ear then learning how to read.Like many young pianists, he was fascinated by classical piano.He began to play Beethoven piano Sonatas and memorizing the Sonata in one sitting.Since he had no formal training, he began reading and memorizing everything he played.
He has played numerous concerts on stage including Chopin and Beethoven.He studied classical composition at Del Mar College.In 1979, he recorded a set of classical compositions for the college.
Since that time, he earned a Bachelors degree in Chemistry and Biology and went on to study medicine at Temple University School of Podiatry in Philadelphia.While in Philadelphia and studying medicine, he would play as often as he could, practicing where he could find a piano.He would practice piano in the many piano rooms of the Curtis Institute.There, he began to compose contemporary music and melody lines.He bought his first piano while in Philadelphia for $500. In 1992, while in residency in Ft. Worth Texas, he began expanding his composition techniques using the Clavinova 69 by Yamaha.A new age sound was captured with strong melody lines. Al plays by ear, sometimes recording entire songs through his art of improvisation.This is what makes his music so unique.Al primarily enjoys writing music for his friends and family.He also records soft piano music for his patients to enjoy in his office.
He records his CD's using a simple disk system through the clavinoa and recording them to disk.The disk is then transfered to a high definition CD recorded in digital sound.No recording studio, but the sound is pretty good quality for todays standards. In his latest work, Al completed Reflections.This is primarily a piano CD of improvisations on the piano.Al is working on transfering his orginal compositions to writing and this will be available through the internet soon.He has already completed various compositions using the Finale music notation software.
