Two and a half years later, Cottage Hospital announces the arrival of its first Filipino nurse, Ian Kirit, R.N.Ian arrived from the Philippines on January 21, 2004 and has already begun work in the Intensive Care Unit.Although Ian is the first for Cottage Hospital, he is the second Filipino nurse to arrive in Grafton County as a result of the group recruiting efforts.

Ian Kirit, R.N. is a native of the Philippines who earned his BSN degree in March of 1995 at Silliman University, Dumaguete City in the Philippines.He worked at Silliman University Medical Center for Medicine in the ICU department from 1996-2003.He served as a Clinical Instructor at Silliman University College of Nursing for seven months.
Although it is a big change for Ian, he is adjusting very well to his new environment."I consider this experience a great adventure," said Kirit."Everyday comes with its own set of surprises,lots of great things to learn and new experiences to cherish."He also commented, "I am proud to be part of this remarkable Cottage family where real caring people abound.I have high hopes for the days ahead.Indeed, I can honestly say that Cottage Hospital is where I truly belong,my home away from home."
"Professionally Ian is very enthusiastic about learning," said Chief Nursing Officer and Director of Patient Services, Barbra Brown, RN, BSN, MS. "He has jumped in with both feet, and he is working well with his preceptor and working through his evidence-based practice credentialing procedure."
