    Kirchner said he responded to an escalating argument among six students in the hall between class periods on March 21.Teachers, administrators and monitors also responded and tried to separate the students.

    Kirchner said he thought the situation was getting under control and he was beginning to ask Aponte what happened when the teen allegedly threw the punch.The melee began to escalate again.The hall was filled with students and Aponte would not back down, Kirchner said.
