GI: Can you recall the first time you were attracted to music? BK: When I was 5, the TV detective series PETER GUNN, with jazz-oriented scores by Henry Mancini, became a hit. There was something about those sounds that fascinated me, even though I was too young to pinpoint what they were.I found out later that those sounds were called "harmonies" and "block chords"; they just kept echoing in my head.My listening experience expanded gradually. My parents had a handful of Swing Era 45s.
