King welcomed the group before the performance and gave them an overview of the hospital and its treatment programs. She thanked them for their service during a time that can often be "an especially difficult time to be hospitalized."As Director of Volunteer Services, King actively seeks these partnerships and finds that they work so well because everyone benefits."For the residents, it was a time of healing through music and laughter and a respite from their usual busy schedules. For the performers," she said, "it's both the joy of giving and the experience of seeing a psychiatric hospital firsthand, maybe for the first time."King believes that this is a great way "to chip away at the stigma of mental illness and addiction disorders and to expose the community to the beautiful environment of care that Silver Hill offers."
