  Janice King , the full time coordinator for Area One has been employed by the General Board since January 1, 1998 and resides in Martinsburg, PA.An ordained minister in the Church of the Brethren, Jan has a BS in Social Work and Gerontology from Juniata College and has completed work with Oasis Ministries as a Spiritual Director.Jan served the Church of the Brethren for 17 years in a variety of capacities, including Associate District Executive for youth and nurture and as a chaplain/pastor prior to her current position.Jan serves as liaison staff to the Association for the Arts in the Church of the Brethren and is actively involved in development and production of Growing Faithful Disciples, a two year discipleship process for congregations in addition to consulting and resourcing congregations.Jan is available to lead spiritual retreats and women's gatherings.

  Jan King, the General Board's Congregational Life Team (CLT) coordinator for Area 1, has accepted a half-time position as chaplain at The Village at Morrison's Cove, a Church of the Brethren retirement center in Martinsburg, Pa.She will continue in the CLT role half-time.The move was made at King's choice to pursue her interest and education in the field of gerontology.The change is effective Feb. 1.
  
  The board's Office of Human Resources reported that the services provided by Area One's team will be accomplished in a different manner but will not be reduced.The coordinator position's change to half-time was not prompted by budget constraints, reported the office, and consultants may be used to continue the current level of services.
  
  King has worked for the board since 1997.She is the board's staff liaison to the Association of the Arts in the Church of the Brethren and has worked with Middle Pennsylvania District in developing a new resource, "Growing Faithful Disciples," which will be shared denomination-wide in January.

  "Each district may choose to distribute and supplement the material...in the fashion that best serves specific needs and interests," reports Jan Glass King, CLT coordinator for Area 1.
  
  Developed from an idea birthed at a Middle Pennsylvania District Conference, CLT staff responded by creating and compiling resources to help shape and strengthen faithful discipleship.Designed around four areas of discipleship--worship, community, stewardship of God's grace, and missions/outreach--the material includes Bible studies, resources for children and youth, small group studies, tools for implementation, and hands-on approaches for congregations.
  
  "We feel this material, written by a broad spectrum of Anabaptist writers, has some unique distinctions which sets it apart from other commercially published resources," King said.

  "Growing Faithful Disciples was not written to be a quick fix but has the potential to be the beginning of an examination of congregational faithfulness in responding to the question: `How are we doing at fulfilling the purpose for which Christ calls us?'" King said.
