Barry's legal career commenced with a Clerkship to the Alberta Court of Appeal.Following his admission to the Alberta Bar in 1981, he practiced with several Edmonton law firms.These firms included Cooke Shandling, Cruickshank Phillips, Snyder & Company and McLennan Ross.

Since September 2001 Barry has practiced with River City Law Group.In addition to practicing law, Barry is involved in a variety of business and charitable concerns including Concepts North Inc., where he consults with individuals on the establishment of secondary business options.

Barry was born and raised in Dawson City, Yukon.He is a graduate of Eastglen Composite High School (1972) in Edmonton.His extended family has lived in the County of Strathcona since 1950 and he is a longtime resident of Sherwood Park.Barry and his wife Ruth are parents of three exceptional daughters, Katherine, Adrienne and Rachel.
