I'm pleasantly surprised because I thought patients would be hesitant about the new technique, says Terry Kim, MD, associate professor of ophthalmology. But patients have embraced this new technology and have associated the laser with precision, safety, greater effectiveness, and less invasiveness.

The all-laser LASIK procedure has few drawbacks, Kim says.Patients treated with the earlier-generations of IntraLase sometimes experienced more inflammation and light sensitivity after LASIK, although it was generally resolved with additional medications.Duke's IntraLase is the latest, fourth-generation model, which few other centers have. The all-laser procedure is more expensive, but patients agree that the added level of safety, assurance and predictably better vision is worth the investment, Kim adds.
    ...
Carlson and Kim are pleased with the outcomes using IntraLase and the enthusiasm of their patients.
    ...
All I can say is, patients love the laser, Kim says.

I am starting my own complaint process with Duke and Dr. Kim, and would like to know about your experiences.
    ...
I am really sorry and upset to know that Dr. Kim still operates and is still respected and glorified as a lasik surgeon.

Dr. Terry Kim trashed my eyes, kicked me out of his practice

Dr. Terry Kim of DUKE LASIK CENTER ... OWN UP to the complications he caused? He KICKED ME OUT OF HIS PRACTICE, refusing to see me any more and banned me from seeing any other doctors at DUKE.Perhaps he was embarrassed by his botched surgery.I made it a point to make sure everyone in the triangle area knows about my DUKE LASIK DEBACLE caused by Dr. Terry Kim ... by painting signs about it on my vehicles with wedding paint.

I'm not so sure Dr. Terry Kim is 'glorified'.I think most people in the area know about my devastating surgical results and the signs I painted on my vehicles.I was told by another Opthalmologist at an unrelated center that "everyone is talking about it".He told me this with a very big smile.
