Taewan Kim, Korea Institute of Design Promotion (KIDP), Korea
Taewan Kim is currently the Head of Strategy Planning Team of the Korea Institute of Design Promotion (KIDP).
After working in academic roles in the Sung Kyun Kwan University, Mr. Kim joined the KIDP team in 1994 where he developed a broad scope of activities in different teams including the 'International Cooperation', 'Exhibition', 'Design Event', 'Planning & Budget Team', 'Business Strategy Team', 'Innovation & Planning Team' and then, 'Strategy Planning Team'.Among his major achievements in the Korea Institute of Design Promotion, he took part in the establishment of intermediate and long-term strategies for developing Korea's design industry such as Design Promotion Plan 2006 (2005), Design Korea 2003 Plan and the 3rd five-year-plan for Industrial Design Promotion (2002).
Mr. Kim studied Literature in the Sung Kyun Kwan University, receiving his master degree in 1993.In 2001 he gained a business consultancy certificate from Korea Productivity Center.In December 2005 he was awarded a Commendation of Minister of Commerce, Industry & Energy for the contribution to promoting Korean design.
The South Korean government and business sector have been supporting design industry in various ways following recognition of the importance to national needs of becoming a country of advanced design.In the IWDS, the "Korean Design Policy" will be introduced as a strategic tool for the develoment of Korean economy.
