Susan is a native of the Pittsburgh area.She is a graduate of St. Francis School of Nursing in 1971.While working full time at St. Francis General Hospital she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Penn State University in 1981 and her Masters of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Pittsburgh in 1984 at which time she also became certified as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Pennsylvania and nationally certified by the American Nurses Association in 1985.

She worked at St. Margaret Memorial Hospital as a Nurse Practitioner in the out-patient surgery department for 17 years before joining The Circulatory Centers in 2003.
