Susan Kim TODAY'S TMJ4 anchor and reporter

Susan Kim launched her broadcast journalism career with a little bit of "northern exposure." She began as an anchor, reporter and producer for KJUD-TV, the ABC/NBC affiliate in

Juneau, Alaska . She produced and anchored morning cut-ins, reported, produced and anchored the 6 p.m. weather report and was acting news director. All in a day's work for this talented, young journalist who was eager to make it big in television news. "Since I was little, I always wanted to be in broadcasting," said Susan. "I grew up watching TV and reading about things that looked interesting to me."

Susan grew up with her parents and brother, James, in

Seattle, Washington . College eventually took her to the opposite coast, to

    Boston

University where she studied political science. While at BU, she was able to combine her interest in television and politics by landing a key opportunity: an internship with the Jefferson-Pilot Broadcasting Washington D.C. Bureau, which had her covering press briefings with President Reagan, members of Congress, cabinet members and governors.

Susan's brush with politics didn't end in college. She covered local politics as a professional journalist while at

Anchorage, Alaska 's KIMO-TV. She co-moderated election debates for local and statewide coverage, and she co-anchored live election night coverage. That, in addition to her primary responsibility: co-anchoring the evening newscast. The highlight of Susan's career at KIMO, however, was her role as lead reporter on the Exxon Valdez oil spill. "That experience had a huge impact on my perception of disasters," said Susan.

Susan started at TODAY'S TMJ4 in April of 1994 as a general assignment reporter three days a week and as weekend assignment editor. She currently co-anchors "Live at Daybreak" with

Vince Vitrano . Susan and her husband, Patrick, keep busy with their three kids, Madeline, Gabrielle and Alex, but still try to sneak in an occasional round of golf.
