    Violinist Paul Kim is a six-year participant in the Seattle Youth Symphony program and has served as concertmaster of the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Marrowstone Festival Orchestra. Paul began studying violin at age 8.

    In 2006, Paul won the American String Teacher Association's Washington State Competition and went on to National Semi-Finals. Last year, he was the first prize-winner at the MTNA State and Regional Competition and won Second Prize at the national level in Denver, Colorado. This past summer, Paul attended Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival and Seattle Youth Symphony's Marrowstone Music Festival where he participated in master classes with Kyung-Sun Lee, Associate Professor of University of Houston, Bernard Greenhouse, the founding cellist of the Beaux Arts Trio, and James Buswell, Professor of Violin of New England Conservatory. He is a student at Bellevue Community College as part of the Running Start Program and enjoys jogging, watching movies (Korean Dramas), TV shows (The Office; US and UK versions) and chatting with friends on Facebook!

    The sole recipient of the Fritz Kreisler Award upon graduation from the prestigious Curtis Institute of Music, Paul Kim began his conducting career at the age of 18 as the Resident Conductor of Hartwick College Summer Music Festival.He has since held posts as the Music Director of New Academy Orchestra of Amsterdam and the Campanile Orchestra in Houston, and has also assisted Hans Graf in the Houston premier of Mozart's Davide Penitente.Recently, he made a debut with the National Arts Centre Orchestra in Ottawa, Canada.

    He was the winner of International Conducting Workshop and Competition in association with St. Petersburg Philharmonic Society, and has participated in the 3rd International Solti Conducting Competition and Evgeny Svetlanov International Conducting Competition.
