Dr. Michael Kim is a well respected recitalist, chamber performer, concerto soloist, teacher, adjudicator and clinician.The Boston Globe stated of his performances that "Kim was most effective and expressive… he has a big technique and a razor sharp attack."And with accolades such as this, Michael will continue performing, and contributing to the Canada's musical landscape as both performer and now, academic administrator.
A veteran concerto soloist, Michael has performed with the Boston and Cincinnati Pops, Royal Scottish National Orchestra and BBC Scottish Symphony, Manitoba Chamber Orchestra, and repeated appearances with such symphonies as Toronto, Vancouver, London, Edmonton, Victoria, Calgary, Regina, Saskatoon, Florida, Oklahoma City, Green Bay and Milwaukee.
As a recitalist and chamber musician, Michael has appeared in every major Canadian city, and throughout the US, UK, South America, and Asia.He has also been a featured guest artist at the summer festivals of Brevard, Aspen, Banff, Huntsville, and Heifetz (Annapolis, MD).He frequently collaborates with his wife, pianist Dr. Kyungran Kim, and his performances and recordings are frequently broadcast on the radio networks of CBC, NPR, BBC, KBS, and Chicago's WFMT's Live From WFMT.He can be heard on critically acclaimed recordings for the CRI, Summit and Orpheum Masters labels.
