    Conversation with John Kilpatrick
    ...
John Kilpatrick: The blessings and challenges of revival (August 19, 2001)
    ...
John Kilpatrick, pastor of Brownsville Assembly of God in Pensacola, Fla., recently sat down with Hal Donaldson, editor in chief, to discuss the status of the "Brownsville Revival," which has seen more than 150,000 people respond to altar calls for salvation.

Evangel: Because some of the media attention has waned, people are wondering if the revival is continuing.

Kilpatrick: We continue to experience a powerful move of the Spirit. And we continue to see large crowds. In fact, this week we had one of the most powerful services of the revival.

Evangel: How has the revival affected the church body?

Kilpatrick: Over the last six years, many of our people have been called to the mission field or to work in other churches.I also think evangelism is more on the minds of our people. They want to be used by God.

Evangel: What is the weekly service schedule?

Kilpatrick: Wednesday night is family night with Royal Rangers, Missionettes and youth.
    ...
Kilpatrick: It certainly changed it, because you're not going to find too many people as passionate about souls as Steve Hill. But the crowds have remained strong, and the Spirit is moving.
    ...
    Kilpatrick: Yes, we have.
    ...
    Kilpatrick: It still happens some.
    ...
Kilpatrick: Absolutely - and some people have been offended when we've had to bring correction.
    ...
Kilpatrick: Well, when the revival started we had 23 on staff.
    ...
Kilpatrick: You begin to see phases of revival in the lives of people.
    ...
Kilpatrick: Yes, I wouldn't have responded to criticism.A few times I did, and I regret it because it may have misrepresented my heart and done a disservice to the revival. There are probably other mistakes that people could point out, but I think any pastor would have felt the revival was much greater than [his ability and wisdom].

Evangel: Where do you believe the Holy Spirit is leading the church now?

Kilpatrick: I believe Brownsville Assembly will always be a place where there is a moving of the Holy Spirit.

John Kilpatrick was called to preach at the age of fourteen in his home town, Columbus, Georgia. He attended Southeastern College of the Assemblies of God, Lakeland, Florida and the Berean School of the Bible, Springfield, Missouri. In 1974, he was ordained with the Assemblies of God.

He started full time pastoral ministry in 1971 and has pastored in Georgia, Indiana and Florida. His current pastorate is at Church of His Presence in Daphne, AL.He was formerly at Brownsville Assembly of God in Pensacola, Florida, where he was Senior Pastor for twenty-two years.

On Father's Day in June 1995, God visited Brownsville with a mighty outpouring of His presence.Over four million hungry people from the nations of the world have come to receive from God.God established an "open heaven" and today His awesome presence continues.Hundreds of thousands have professed salvation, and numerous healings, deliverances, and miracles have taken place. There have been multiple accounts of transformed lives, and homes restored.

In 1996, John Kilpatrick founded Partners In Revival and has traveled across North American speaking at conferences, churches and civic arenas.God has used him as a tool to spread revival fire around the country and bring new hope and life to Pastors.Pastors have always held a special place in his heart. He has been burdened for the difficulties that they endure and encounter in the ministry. He annually held a Minister's Conferences at Brownsville. This was not an instructional how-to time, but rather a time set aside to love on those in ministry and their families.

He recently resigned as Senior Pastor of Brownsville Assembly of God in Pensacola, Florida to fulfill a mandate on his life.

John Kilpatrick has been married to his wife, Brenda for over 34 years.
