ASD Parent Representative - Brett Ketchum
Mr. Ketchum reported that last weekend was the Homecoming football game and there was a big turnout for the event. He also said there was an open forum in the afternoon and Marcella made a presentation. He said he thinks it would be nice to have forums for the parents at the end of the year to emphasize what is going on at the school.
Mr. Ketchum told the board that there has been a protest at Galludet University because students and alumni were not happy with the new president, hired in May, who was the former provost. The students started the protest again when school resumed in the fall and it has exacerbated and the school has been closed for approximately two weeks. He said there is information on the internet regarding the situation at Galludet.A.S.D. alumni have concerns about the situation at the university and parents of students who might be interested in attending Galludet may be concerned. He said there are a lot of great students at the university and it is a great university.
Mr. Ketchum referred to the information regarding Silent Sunday and pointed out that Kaci Jane, his daughter, is featured on the front page of the brochure. He invited the board members to Silent Sunday.
