The class has been made possible partially through a Learn and Service America federal grant obtained by Thomas A. Kessinger, assistant professor of education at Xavier University.

Wyoming High School has offered the class as an academic elective for a few years, but this is the third year Wyoming has received federal funding for some of its service-learning activities.Wyoming is the only school in Greater Cincinnati taking part in the grant program at that level.
