Mark Kessinger, F.SAME
Mark Kessinger is the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' National Program Manager for support to the Department of Energy's National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL).He manages all of the services the Corps provides to NETL which include decontamination and decommissioning, cost engineering, construction management, NEPA support and environmental remediation.
Prior to his current position, Kessinger was the Corps' Project Manager for decommissioning NASA's Plum Brook Reactor Facility near Sandusky, Ohio, and was assigned to Corps Headquarters and worked at Department of Energy (DOE) Headquarters as the Corps' Senior Liaison to the DOE.Kessinger also served as an Engineering Staff Specialist with the Great Lakes and Ohio River Division in Cincinnati and has served in a variety of staff assignments in the Huntington District, including Hydraulic Engineer for the Hydrology and Hydraulics Branch, Engineer Manager in Engineering Division, Program Manager in the Programs and Project Management Division, and Chief of the Engineering Management Unit.
Kessinger graduated from West Virginia University in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and received a Master of Science degree in Engineering Management from the University of West Virginia College of Graduate Studies in December 1991.
Mr. Kessinger is an active member of the American Nuclear Society, the Air and Waste Management Association, the National Defense Industrial Association and the Society of American Military Engineers.At age 38, he was one of the youngest members ever inducted as a Fellow in the Society of American Military Engineers.He is a Director for the Huntington Post and has served SAME as Deputy Regional Vice President for the Ohio Valley Region in 2002, as Huntington Post President in 1997, and was selected as the Post's most outstanding young member in 1995.
