METEOROLOGIST KRISTEN KEROUAC
Kristen's first experience as a meteorologist was when she was three.
She told her family at dinner what the "possibility of precipitation" would be for that night.
She had NO IDEA what she was talking about.
Kristen's mother must have wanted a meteorologist for a daughter.
Kristen remembers her mother singing "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on my Head" to her as a lullaby.
And on rainy days, Kristen's mother would dress her in yellow and send her off to school with these instructions: "Your job is to be the sunshine today!"
Kristen grew up staring out the window all the time.
Her teachers thought she was daydreaming, but she was fascinated with the weather, as she is to this day!
She went to school at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell.
In her time there earning her bachelors degree in Atmospheric Science, she was Weather Center Director, UML's American Meteorological Society chapter President, Connector senior staff meteorologist (the University's newspaper), and chief meteorologist for WJUL - the University's radio station.
It was appearing live on WJUL up to 4 times a day in between studies that sparked her interest in becoming a broadcast meteorologist.
Having lived in New England all of her life, she thoroughly enjoys all of the challenges involved with forecasting the weather for WGFP's listeners, especially in the winter when SNOW is involved!
In her spare time, Kristen loves to hang out with her six younger brothers and sisters: Jerod, Danny, Sean, Katie, Kelly, and Colleen.
She swims, rollerblades, and Jazzercises for exercise, and enjoys writing (and YES, she is a relative of the late Jack Kerouac!
Jack was her grandfather's cousin.) and singing.
It's a little known fact that Kristen does all of her forecasting BAREFOOT.
Why she does this remains a mystery.
