    Saturday's shooting unfolded at 4:45 p.m. over a short stretch of U.S. 26 where lanes from Interstate 405, U.S. 26 and an on-ramp from downtown Portland combine near the east side of the Vista Ridge Tunnel, said police spokeswoman Officer Cathe Kent.

    Sergeant Cathe Kent with the Portland Police Bureau said dispatched received a reports of a "van full of teenagers" racing through the streets and running red lights around SE 24th and SE Main just after 7:30 p.m.

    Kent said the plates on the van came back as stolen.

    At 7:39 an officer spotted the white 1986 Toyota Van heading Westbound on SE Morrison at 20th and began the pursuit.

    Kent said the stolen van was clocked at speeds in excess 40 mph before the driver crashed into a Toyota Camry at SE Morrison and Grand at 7:44.

    The impact caused the van the slide into a pole.

    Kent said the driver of the van, 18-year-old Dennis Milton Perryman, was ejected out of the vehicle.

    The masked man walked into the Washman Autospa at 426 N.E. 81st Ave. at about 10:45 a.m., pulled a gun out of his sweatshirt and demanded money, said Catherine Kent, of the Portland Police Bureau.

    The robber then dropped the gun and it fell apart so he threatened the worker with his fist as he continued to demand money, Kent said.

    The worker walked with the robber over to a booth and opened up the till, but when the robber reached for the money, the employee grabbed a power washer and sprayed the man in the face, Kent said.

    Portland Police Officer Catharine Kent describes the crime as a random sexual assault, which is highly out of the ordinary in Portland.

    She also said police believe it is a "stranger-to-stranger" crime, meaning that the aggressor did not know the victim.
