    Risk Solutions
    ...
Alistair joined Risk Solutions in 1998 and was appointed as a Partner in 2002.His early career with British Rail Research gave Alistair a broad understanding of rail technologies and established, through the production of rolling stock safety cases, his interest in risk management. The move to Risk Solutions was a natural next step and enabled Alistair to deepen his understanding of risk methods and apply them to an increasingly diverse range of problems.

Projects outside the rail industry include a recent review of water billing options in Northern Ireland, developing an evaluation framework to assess the security of the UK's energy supplies, and managing the risks from major public events such as the Queen's Golden Jubilee celebrations and the Olympic Torch Relay through central London.

Alistair is currently developing a national rail safety model as part of the DfT's Network Modelling Framework and leading projects to implement better competence management arrangements on London Underground.

Alistair is a chartered civil engineer and is married with three children.

    Alistair Kennedy
    ...
Alistair Kennedy Having graduated from the University of Surrey with a degree in Civil Engineering, Alistair began his working life with British Rail Research in 1985.

Alistair specialised in novel ways of managing the railway's track and structures assets, before moving on to producing safety cases for new rolling stock - such as Siemens' Heathrow Express trains.

In 1998, shortly after railway privatisation, Alistair joined Risk Solutions to pursue his interest in risk management principles and their application to decision making generally.

Over the intervening period, he led a number of key projects in the rail sector before becoming one of Risk Solutions' Directors in 2001. In addition to helping steer the company through a period of major change, Alistair has been closely involved with a wide range of projects including, recently, a major review of DVLA's medical driver licensing process and working with the Rail Safety and Standards Board to develop an innovative safety model for DfT.
