(2)"EDUCATION AND MOTIVATION WILL LEAD TO ACTION": AN INTERVIEW WITH MARTINE KELLETT
Martine Kellett is the Executive Director of the New England BioLabs Foundation, a supporter of EcoLogic's work in Punta de Manabique and San José Petén, both of which she visited in March 1997.
COULD YOU BRIEFLY DESCRIBE NEW ENGLAND BIOLABS FOUNDATION'S COMMITMENT TO CONSERVATION AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT? We believe that diversity, environmental as well as cultural, is necessary for a perfect balance in life.To achieve this, we choose to leave policy level action to other groups, while we focus on involving people at the grassroots or community level so that they develop a greater stake in their surroundings. Our motto could be: Education and motivation will lead to action.
HOW DO ECOLOGIC'S GOALS AND PROJECTS SET IT APART FROM OTHER ORGANIZATIONS? I am amazed at what EcoLogic has been able to accomplish since its beginnings in 1993.
