   Michele "Mike" Keller, CEcD, FM, EDE, is president of Keller Consulting LLC and a Senior Associate with Competitive Strategies Group, LLC. Mike recently retired from BNSF Railway with over 39 years of experience. As a railroad economic development expert, she has worked with communities and cities in over 20 states in the US. She has helped site over $1 billion worth of capital investment in economic development related projects resulting in the creation of full time positions in excess of 32,700. Her work has also improved communities through her expertise in site location management creating infrastructure efficiencies, helping to secure public grants, and fostering private investment.
   
   During her tenure with BNSF, Mike has worked with existing railroad customers on the expansion of their facilities. In addition she has worked with existing customers and prospective customers on the development of new facilities. Many of these new facilities were located in industrial parks that she had helped develop by working with the local communities. By virtue of her position with BNSF Railway, she has worked with states, regional organizations and local economic development organizations on the development, design, and placement of industries in their industrial parks. She has a thorough understanding of the structure of transmodal facilities and how to help a community determine what type of facility best suits their area.
   
   Mike has also been active as a volunteer in the economic development profession both on a national and local level. She has served on the Executive Board of the International Economic Development Council as well as holding numerous other executive positions. IEDC recognized Mike in 2005 by awarding her the Chairman's Lifetime Achievement Award in Economic Development. Also on the national level, she currently serves as Dean of the Economic Development Institute at the University of Oklahoma. On the local level, she is now serving on the Economic Development Action Committee for the City of Lino Lakes, Minnesota.
