   HUMMELS WHARF - Helen E. Keiser is the 2004 recipient of the Distinguished Service Award presented by the Selinsgrove Rotary Club.
   
   Keiser, a retired teacher, received the award Thursday night during a program in the Susquehanna Valley Country Club.

   Keiser is a lifelong resident of Selinsgrove. She is a Selinsgrove Area High School graduate and a 1950 graduate of East Stroudsburg State College.
   
   She was a physical education teacher and coach at Lewisburg Area High School.
   
   She has always been interested in the concerns of youths, supporting a Boy Scout Eagle Project that completed two horseshoe pits at Anthony Selin Park and contributing to Kidsgrove.
   
   Keiser is a member of Selinsgrove's Borough Shade Tree Committee and Parks and Recreation Committee.
   
   She volunteers to microfilm documents at the Snyder County Historical Society. Through her efforts at Union and Trinity cemeteries, accurate plotting of locations has resulted as well as repairing of tombstones.
   
   On Nov. 6, 1999, she established the Keiser Family Trust, which supports the Selinsgrove Area Youth Foundation. She has assembled a scrapbook of local military personnel who served during World War II.
