But, if all goes well, City Manager Leslie Keane, the Local Agency Formation Commission might have the annexation on its agenda in February.

If the annexation happens, Keane says Laguna Woods will eventually seek remaining parcels to swell that acreage to 178.55 acres of parkland.

Laguna Woods City Manager Leslie Keane warns seniors, especially those with respiratory and circulatory problems, to exercise caution when outdoors as smoke from the Santiago fire billows over Laguna Woods.

Small particulates in the air can be both irritating to the nose, throat and lungs and make breathing more difficult.

Seniors, she said, should limit physical activity - especially outdoors; stay indoors, close windows and doors and run fans to circulate ambient air (rather than air conditioners which pull in outdoor air); and drink plenty of liquids.
