Michael J. Kavanagh, BARegional Manager for East Asia

Michael is the Regional Manager for East Asia and in collaboration with HMI directors, oversees partnerships with clients in Turkey, Greece, Thailand and Italy working on professional development, quality management and facility design initiatives.Prior to joining HMI in 2003, Mike managed a grant program in sub-Saharan African countries for 10 years at a human rights non-profit organization in Washington, DC.

Michael Kavanagh recognized with HMI's Employee Recognition AwardHMI's Michael Kavanagh is the latest recipient of HMI's Employee Recognition Award, given to recognize outstanding service to the organization and its partners.Michael, who is HMI Regional Manager for East Asia, has played a major role in HMI's partnerships with Acibadem Healthcare Group and Phyathai Hospital Group, and has teamed with HMI team members in Boston and Beijing to help manage programs in China and Korea.

HMI Regional Manager Michael Kavanagh said, "The VEP helps HMI to develop a wide range of learning opportunities, from one-day visits to two-week observership programs in multiple clinical areas.

Michael Kavanagh of HMI was on hand to help coordinate the three-day program, and to observe the drill. He said, "In recent years, people in Istanbul have seen firsthand the impact that large-scale disasters can have on the health care delivery system.

The program was coordinated by Rebekah Sherman, a doctoral candidate in the pharmacy program at Northeastern University, with consultation from an HMI team that included Elizabeth Brown, RN, MSN, director of clinical services; Albert Gillis, RTA, director of health care facilities development; and Michael Kavanagh, regional manager for East Asia.

Michael J. Kavanagh, BA Regional Manager, Global Programs

Michael has served as Regional Manager for Global Programs since 2006. Joining the organization in 2003 as a Program Coordinator, Michael, in collaboration with PHMI senior leadership and client executives, has overseen PHMI partnerships with clients working on nursing and physician professional development, hospital management and operations issues, quality management initiatives and facility design programs. Michael provides focused and tailored administrative, financial, operational, and programmatic management support to further the objectives and goals of PHMI's long-term international clients. Since its creation in 2006, Michael has coordinated and facilitated efforts of the PHMI China Office staff with the Boston home office.

Michael also works closely with PHMI leadership and staff on the development of contract proposals for prospective clients. In these roles at PHMI Michael has collaborative working experience in China, Turkey, Greece, Thailand, Italy, South Korea, and Indonesia.

Prior to joining PHMI, Michael managed a grant program in sub-Saharan African countries for 10 years at a non-profit human rights organization in Washington, DC and previously worked as a legislative aide in the United States Senate.
