Dr. Kane is an economist with a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois where he specialized in regional economics and public finance.He has done significant work in the analysis of costs and benefits of environmental rules and technological processes.He recently led the economic analysis of watershed management strategies for nitrate reduction in a public water supply lake with an agricultural watershed.
He served four terms in the Illinois General Assembly and was also Assistant to the Governor and Deputy Auditor General for the State of Illinois.In addition to his environmental work, Dr. Kane has taught Public Finance at Sangamon State University, has done market studies for private sector companies, evaluated programs and consulted on management effectiveness.He is a member of the International Society for Ecological Economics and has participated in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's program on measuring environmental benefits.
