She has also served as the co-chair of the Coalition of Patient Advocates for Skin Disease Research, which is comprised of 25 skin disease patient groups. In 1999, Ms. Kalabokes was chosen to be one of the original 20 members of the National Institutes of Health Council of Public Representatives.
