Mr. Gary Kaiway joined Placer Dome in June 1995 as Director of Taxation and was appointed Vice-President of Taxation , Placer Dome Inc. , on June 1st , 2000. Working with Placer Dome's financial team , Mr. Kaiway provides strategic financial direction for the Company. Prior to joining Placer Dome , Mr. Kaiway had an extensive career with Exxon Corporation and its Canadian subsidiary Imperial Oil Limited. He held assignments of increasing responsibility in Chile and Canada where , prior to joining Placer , he was Manager , Resource Taxation. Mr. Kaiway is a graduate of the University of B.C. with a degree in Mining Engineering and received his MBA from the University of Western Ontario in 1978. Mr. Kaiway also completed the Executive Development program at Columbia University. He was recently appointed Chairman of the Mining Association of Canada.
