Linda Kahn, Senior Vice President of International TV Sales & Merchandising, develops and directs all sales and strategic international opportunities in television, video, interactive, character licensing and promotions for Scholastic Media.Her responsibilities encompass international co-production financing.Kahn is a pioneer in children's television programming.
Kahn leads Scholastic Media's international consumer products and promotional activities including those for WordGirl, Maya & Miguel, Clifford The Big Red Dog, I SPY, Horrible Histories, Stellaluna, The Magic School Bus, Animorphs and Goosebumps.Kahn also spearheaded the branding and distribution of the Scholastic Video Collection, creating a new consumer video line based on the award-winning Weston Woods library of classic best-selling children's picture books.
Prior to joining Scholastic Media in 1995, Kahn spent 12 years in senior executive positions at Nickelodeon and MTV Networks.As Senior Vice President of Nickelodeon's International Program Sales, she launched Nickelodeon's television syndication and format sales worldwide.Kahn introduced Nickelodeon's original series including Rugrats, Ren & Stimpy, and Doug to the global children's television market.She has worked with networks around the world to customize Nickelodeon's popular game show formats to local markets.
Previously, as Vice President of Acquisitions for Nickelodeon and Nick at Nite, Kahn was responsible for all program acquisitions for Nickelodeon in its early years and instrumental in the launch of Nick at Nite.
After beginning her career as a teacher of English and educational media in Watertown, MA, Kahn became Director of Curriculum Development for Prime Time School Television in Chicago.There she created curriculum introducing the use of evening television programs to teach students in grades 7-12 economics, law-related education, and TV news.She has extensive experience training teachers nationwide in media education.Kahn holds a Masters degree in Educational Communications and Technology from Boston University and a BA in English from Washington University in St. Louis.
Kahn is the Chair of the Advisory Board and immediate past President of New York Women in Film & Television.She is Co-President of the Board of the Greater NYC Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.Additionally, she is a Board Member of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
