KAHL NAMED VICE PRESIDENT FOR INSTITUTIONAL ADVANCEMENT AT FIT
John L. Kahl has been appointed vice president for Institutional Advancement at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT).He will lead and manage a broad-based strategic development effort consistent with the college's mission. Mr. Kahl's first priority at FIT will be to provide leadership in planning the second phase of the college's $137 million capital campaign.He will work closely with President Joyce F. Brown, the college's Board of Trustees, and the Educational Foundation for the Fashion Industries to achieve the campaign's goals and refine the overall development strategy. Mr. Kahl comes to FIT with extensive experience in developing and implementing fundraising programs to maximize philanthropic support.Since 2000, he has been vice president of Development and Public Relations at Guiding Eyes for the Blind, Inc.Among his accomplishments there was the development of a comprehensive master plan for executing fundraising campaigns. Prior to his position at Guiding Eyes, he was executive director of Development at St. John's University (1997-2000), and director of the Cardinal's Committee of the Laity for the Archdiocese of New York (1991-1994).He began his career in marketing and sales for such leading companies as Bloomingdale's and Avon Products.Mr. Kahl graduated from Iona College with a BBA degree in marketing and an MBA degree in organizational behavior.
