    Current mercury discharge limits are outdated, said Neil Kagan, an National Wildlife Federation attorney who brought the case with Lone Tree.

    "The state had a uniform discharge level for everyone, even though many facilities could discharge at a lower level," Kagan said.

    There aren't any estimates on how much mercury the new standards will keep out of waterways, but Kagan thinks it's a significant amount.
