Rolly Jurgens, N-I-C's vice president for administration, says enrollment is expected to drop by two-point-five percent.

The college is cutting eleven full-time positions, including a night security officer.

Some of those employees are moving to part-time status.

Rolly Jurgens, NIC's vice president for administrative services, said the facility would be shared by the college and Lakeland, Coeur d'Alene and Post Falls school districts.

The Idaho Legislature approved funding for the 57,000-square-foot Health and Sciences Building last spring, says Rolly Jurgens, vice president for administrative services at NIC.

NIC is expected to seek construction bids for the project in January, and construction should be completed by Sept. 1, 2005, Jurgens says.

Bonds to pay for the project already have been sold, he says.

The building will be constructed north of the college's student union building, on land that previously was used as a baseball field, Jurgens says.

H2A Architects PA, of Coeur d'Alene, is designing the building.Integrus Architecture PS, of Spokane, is a design consultant on the project.

The structure will include classrooms, two lecture auditoriums, laboratories, and staff offices, Jurgens says.

In addition to those health-care programs, the new building will house NIC's natural-science classes, such as biology, Jurgens says.

"The administration doesn´t take this lightly," college Vice President Rolly Jurgens said.He worked with student leaders and other school officials to come up with the fee increase plan, which is still below the maximum 10 percent annual increase allowed by lawmakers last year.
