"We've found an ever-increasing number of card members are finding this of interest," said Fred Jubitz, vice president at American Express, of the special rewards programs.

This is the second year American Express has offered the Delta doubles miles program, he said, but it's the first year it is offering the Starwood double points program.

"Awareness that you can pay taxes with the card is still relatively low," Jubitz said.
