Judges Ross Jones and Jeremy Pickering, also of the Eastern Cape Division, nominated Kroon, who recently completed an acting stint in the Constitutional Court.

Judge Ross Jones said they were each of an exceptionally high standard and would all consequently progress to the final round at tonight's Members Cocktail Party.

"The judges will be sitting with them and we will be assessing their conduct and we will assess them on their ability to mingle," he said.

During Saturday's interviews, Mr Jones found the entrants were each intelligent, passionate and accomplished in their own right, after they were given the opportunity to tell their own stories to the panel.

"It was mind boggling," he said.

"They were highly intelligent ... they all in some capacity have been involved (with racing).

"And they were all very capable and would be wonderful assets as Miss Devonport Cup."

Mr Jones said no decisions had been made yet with tonight's party - which starts at 7pm - to be the real clincher.

The winner will be announced within the hour and the new The Advocate Miss Devonport Cup will get the opportunity to tackle her first day in the role at Wednesday's big event.

"They (the winner) will be working very hard on cup day - and we have 18 race meetings for the year," Mr Jones said.
