    Allan Jones joined the former Telematics Department, subsequently the ICT Department, in January 2001 after working for many years as an editor in the Faculty of Technology. In October 2007, with the dissolution of the Technology Faculty and its departments, he became a member of the Mathematics, Computing and Technology Faculty. His academic interests are mainly in electronics, telecommunications, communications theory, musicology, and the history and social role of science and technology. He has contributed teaching material to TA212/TA225 The Technology of Music, T175 Networked Living, A870 MA in Music, and T324 Keeping Ahead in ICT. He is also convenor of the Technology in Context research group (TICREG).

    Allan is a graduate of the Open University, and also of Liverpool University. He is currently enrolled on a part-time PhD at University College London related to the history of science broadcasting. Outside academic life, his interests are walking, cycling, music, history, philosophy, and French. See Allan's 'Web' link above for more.

    Dr. Alan Jones has analysed the waste data from the 2004 cohort of T210 students, and also undertaken trend analysis of waste composition, and recycling and disposal practices over the period 2000 - 2004. He is currently working on the production of three Factsheets for DEFRA, to disseminate information gained through the waste research undertaken at The Open University.
