Shirley was also an active member of the St. Charles Congregational Church, sitting on both the Women's Fellowship and the Board of Deacons and Deaconesses.Her love and passion for arts and crafts led her to open a needlepoint and stitch shop in the town of Aurora.Her love of travel and desire to see the many parts of the United States helped her in her decision to move to the warmer climates of Winter Garden, Florida in 1985.While there, she began a cleaning service business and served as an apartment manager for the next 17 years, before retiring in 2002.Shirley also took great pride in her involvement in being a founding member in such religious organizations as the Warriors Church, the Antioch Worship Center, and the Crossroads Fellowship.She relocated to Marquette in 2004 to spend more time with her loving daughter and family, and became an active member in the Redeemer Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Sharon L. Carey and Lawrence M. Carey III, of Marquette, Michigan, and a loving son, Scott A. Blincoe of Longwood, Florida.She also has three special grandchildren Kelley, Lawrence IV and Katey Carey of Marquette.She is survived by her brothers and sisters, Kenneth (Maxine) Johnson of Inverness, Fl., Paul "Johnny" (Marilyn) Erickson of Bellbrook, OH, and Jean (Steve) Carlson of Lake Mary, FL, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Carl L. and Dollie (Ottinger) Johnson, as well as her guardian Aunt Tillie Anderson, her brothers William and Harold Johnson, her mother and father-in-law Edna and Thomas J. Blincoe, her nephew David Johnson and her niece Angela Johnson.
