Sheryl Yvette Johnson was the second child born in the Johnson family. She had a big brother by the name of Michael and a baby brother named Stanley.
Sheryl was a graduate of Beaumont High School and received her undergraduate degree from Xavier College in New Orleans. She then went on to receive her Law degree from St. Louis University.
Sheryl had a great love for her family. She was the constant companion of her mother and father.
Sheryl was the founder, owner of the Hatshepsut Studio and Gallery, 1210 Washington Avenue. Sheryl was the First African American to open a Gallery in the now Loft District of Washington avenue. Sheryl opened the gallery to educate others of the beauty of African Art. The Studio served as a gathering place for poets and gave others the opportunity to display African clothing. Sheryl was known for her personal style of African attire. Sheryl allowed others to hold fundraisers there. She was a member of the Eugene Redmond Writers Club and traveled with them to the National Black Art Festival in Atlanta, Georgia.
Sheryl had no limit to her creative style which included the Kleopatra Kare Baskets and the awarding of Scholarships made available to members of Lane Tabernacle Church through her personal efforts to insure an education for others.
Served as the First President of the Catherine Hines Club. Sheryl loved her church and would never turn down an opportunity to serve in any capacity.
Sheryl was respected by her fellow peers and member of the mound City Bar.
She departed this life on Wednesday, January 31, 2007.
