Holzer Appoints Johnson to Executive Director of Cardiovascular Institute

In an announcement by LaMar Wyse, President of the Holzer Cardiovascular Institute, and T. Wayne Munro, MD, Vice President of the Institute, Matt Johnson, MA, was named the Executive Director of the Holzer Cardiovascular Institute.

An employee of Holzer Clinic since 1992, Johnson began his career with Holzer as a speech and language pathologist.In 1994, he was promoted to a Holzer Clinic contracted management position on the Holzer Medical Center Inpatient Rehab Unit.In 1996, he became the Operations Director for Holzer Clinic's South Charleston facility in West Virginia, a position he held until his appointment with the Holzer Cardiovascular Institute.

As executive director, Johnson will be responsible for all cardiovascular-related endeavors, including Holzer's open heart program.

Johnson resides in Putnam County, West Virginia, with his wife and their five children.

Gallipolis - Holzer Medical Center and the Holzer Cardiovascular Institute proclaimed Friday, February 3 as Wear Red Day, a national recognition by the American Heart Association for women and heart disease.Special guest for the event was June Alley of Jackson, a recent open heart surgery patient of the Holzer Cardiovascular Institute.Alley was given the honor of lighting a special heart wreath displayed in the Front Lobby of the Hospital in Gallipolis that will stay lit during the entire month of February, observed across the nation as American Heart Month.Employees of Holzer Health Systems and the Holzer Cardiovascular Institute participated in the event by wearing red wristbands to symbolize the special day.Pictured with Alley is Matt Johnson, Executive Director of the Holzer Cardiovascular Institute, who presented her with a dozen of roses.
