Charles D. Johnson, the director of the Public Policy Research Institute at Texas A&M University, spoke of his organization's collaboration with the Doha Institute in developing a web-accessible database compiling pro-family resources searchable in both English and Arabic.

Johnson has spent more than two decades as director of the Public Policy Research Institute, which is one of the largest international student employers on campus.During his tenure, officials said, the institute has brought in $80 million in service and research money and has become the go-to agency for policy research.

All three professors said after the ceremony that they were honored to be Bush Excellence Award recipients.Each of the men was given a plaque and a check for $2,500.

"It's just wonderful," Johnson said.

The Committee on Education and Professional Development, led by Charles Johnson of Texas A&M, along with the Departmental Services Committee, has commissioned the development of a professional videotape that will be released in 2000 to encourage undergraduates to major in political science and that will be distributed to departments, career centers, and local television stations.
