Ken Jensen's recent ceramics take their colors from the American Southwest.Working with a variety of glazing and firing techniques, he achieves a subtlety of color often reminiscent of desert landscapes. The forms often echo those found in nature and in the work of Native American artisans. The pieces in the exhibition range from large, simplified vessels to complex sculptural constructions in clay.Jensen graduated from California State University, Chico, as an art major specializing in ceramics and printmaking. His works have won numerous awards in exhibitions with the Turlock City Arts Commission and Central California Art League. He has also recently exhibited at galleries in Nevada and Utah.Currently Jensen teaches ceramics at Turlock High School and Turlock Adult School.
