Rachel Jenner, HNC
Rachel began working in the Maxillofacial & Orthodontic Laboratory at Kent & Canterbury Hospital in 1990.
This combined gaining work experience with studying at Lambeth College, London, to obtain her BTEC National Diploma in Science Dental Technology.
It was during the final stages of the course that Rachel was introduced into the depths of maxillofacial trauma.
From this Rachel went on to complete her Higher National Certificate, studying Orthodontics and majoring in Maxillofacial Trauma and Prosthetics, under the excellent instruction of Mr M Cutler.
In 1996, Rachel became a full member of IMPT.
Rachel developed a Nipple Prosthesis Clinic at Canterbury from the support of colleagues through IMPT and the knowledge gained from attending IMPT conferences and short courses.
It was in 2003 that Rachel took over as Head of the laboratory at Canterbury, with the hope of changing a historically orthodontic run lab into an expanding maxillofacial & orthodontic service.
Rachel applied and was accepted for co-option on to IMPT Council in May 2005.
This gave Rachel the opportunity to see what was involved when volunteering to be a council officer.
Not put off from the experience, Rachel was proposed and accepted as a council officer for the IMPT in May 2006.
Rachel has since taken on the role as Newsletter Co-ordinator.
