Pam, who has worked for Essex County Council youth service in Newport and Saffron Walden for nearly 10 years, will be focussing on community development projects. These will include working with orphans and children with polio and cerebral palsy. In order to make the trip in January next year, Pam needs to raise around £2,000 and has organised a fund raising gig in Saffron Walden Town Hall on 15 October.

"This should be a really good night," said Pam."We have got some fantastic musicians; great raffle prizes and it would be wonderful to get a really good crowd.I am also extremely grateful not only to those people who have donated prizes but to companies who are sponsoring the gig, including Copyscene, Ridgeons, Saffron Walden Herts and Essex Building Society and Snow Walker Associates.
Pam, who has travelled to India twice in the last two years, hopes her trip will be the start of a much longer-term project. She has launched India Initiative, whose aims include funding apprenticeships in India for deprived young people.
