LELAND, NC - The Town of Leland has selected Timothy Jayne as its new Chief of Police.
Jayne is currently a Captain with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Timothy Jayne has been with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department since 1986.
Since 2001 he has served as a Police Captain with a number of divisions within the department.
As Captain of the department's Community Services Division he was responsible for over 400 police volunteers, 80 sworn officers and a budget of over $5 million.
As Captain of the Support Services Group with the Watch Commander's Office he was acting commander of the entire Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department during non-business hours.
He has also served as Captain of the Vice and Narcotics Division and the SWAT division.
He previously served as a Police Sergeant with the department.
Jayne earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from UNC-Charlotte in 1993.
He has been actively involved with a number of community organizations, including Habitat for Humanity and the Humane Society of Charlotte.
In 2007 he participated in Habitat for Humanity's week-long Gulf Coast rebuild project in Biloxi, MS. Jayne and his wife have two children.
