Andrew Janke is a senior scientific programmer for Computational Geosciences, Inc.He joined Computational Geosciences after completing a degree in the Computer Science program at the University of Oklahoma.He has been developing decision support systems with client-server architecture and administering and supporting computer networks.Mr. Janke has several years of experience in the administration and support of heterogeneous computer networks.At the University of Oklahoma, he provided network support and administration for the Geosciences Computing Network, a large network with machines running Linux, Solaris, Irix, and various versions of Microsoft Windows.He is now the systems administrator for Computational Geosciences, Inc.'s network, a firewall-protected intranet with Linux and Microsoft Windows NT/2000 machines.Mr. Janke was responsible for the specification, installation, and configuration of the Linux servers and the establishment of secure connection methods for both internal and external network access.Development Projects: With Computational Geosciences, Inc., Mr. Janke has been involved with the development of the High Resolution Weather Data System (HRWxDS).He has done object-oriented design and development for the client-server components of the project.The client and server were implemented using platform-independent Java technology and communicate using an XML-based protocol that Mr. Janke helped define.He continues to do work on the Java development and deployment of new versions of the HRWxDS.Awards/Recognition
