Also present at the ceremony was Chairman of the Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA) Brian James, who expressed his delight that the integrity of the historic wooden building is being maintained.
"We welcome innovations like this from the Private Sector because without the private sector driving this thing forward, tourism would not get off the ground.Since chairing the Board of Tourism about two and a half years ago, I have seen definite signs from the Government that tourism is here to stay," James said.
He said it has been indicated by Government that the GTA will be given more resources to develop the tourism industry.
James explained that "Guyana has begun to get nominal recognition, and we are trying to maximise the limited resources and forge alliances with key stakeholders," adding, " I am especially pleased when things like this happens, and it shows that tourism is being taken seriously."
He said it is the goal of the Government to make tourism a substantial component of the economy, which is taking shape and will happen soon.
