Dr. Michael E. Jabaley
Michael Jabaley, MD, is one of the country's most experienced plastic surgeons practicing today.
In his lengthy and impressive career as a surgeon and professor, he has held plastic surgery professorships at some of the world's most prestigious medical institutions and hospitals.
A decorated veteran of the Vietnam War and officer in the United States Army Medical Corps, Dr. Jabaley is known as one of the nation's premier surgeons in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery and in hand surgery.
He is certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
He served as Vice-President of the American Board of Plastic Surgery and was a member of the committee responsible for creating the Certificate of Added Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand.
Dr. Jabaley is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Vanderbilt University.
He received his Doctorate of Medicine from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore.
His post-graduate training included an Internship in Surgery and a Residency in Plastic Surgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, as well as a Residency in General Surgery at The Massachusetts General Hospital.
In 1976, the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons awarded him the Robert H. Ivy Society Award for the best scientific paper.
Two years later, he was the recipient of the Emanuel Kaplan Award, presented for the best scientific paper at the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.
As an instructor, Dr. Jabaley has served as a professor of both orthopaedic and plastic surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital and the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
He has also served as a visiting professor at several distinguished medical schools and institutions.
Among them are Duke, Vanderbilt, Stanford, Harvard, Oschner Medical Center in New Orleans, Columbia University in New York, George Washington University, University of Alabama, University of Kentucky, as well as university hospitals in Switzerland and South Africa.
Dr. Jabaley has served as President of the American Association of Plastic Surgeons, American Society for Surgery of the Hand, Sunderland Society, Mississippi Chapter of the American College of Surgeons, and Jackson Surgical Society.
Other prestigious memberships include the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, American College of Surgeons, Johns Hopkins Medical Society and American Association of Hand Surgeons.
As a scientist and academician, Dr. Jabaley has received grants and awards totaling more than $600,000 to perform medical studies and conduct industry-leading research.
He has published more than 74 medical articles and served on the editorial boards of nine surgical journals.

Dr. Jabaley and his wife, Mary, have five children, Mary Powel, Michael, Liza, John, and Kate.
