  According to PT Ummer Koya, Secretary-General of the AICF and also the Vice-President of the FIDE, the Grand Prix tournaments, proposed by Willy Iclicki, chairman, World Championship Cycle Committee, are scheduled to be held from April till the end of March.The dates however could be changed later.

  The Secretariat shall submit detailed proposals from the Technical/Commercial Advisers of FIDE Commerce , Messrs.Octagon PLC , on the future of the World Chess Championship.At the instance of the FIDE President , it is now proposed to have a series of qualifying tournaments for the World Championships including the utilization of a Grand Prix's scoring system for some existing tournaments while the knock out format shall continue to be used for some events and stages of the Championship.It is further envisaged that a redistribution of the current prize fund of USD 3.000.000 at various stages of the Championship could lead to a further increase in the overall financial sponsorship of the series of events leading up to the World Championship as well as serve as a catalyst for worldwide chess development.
